Hawkins

Phillip Ray Hawkins passed away at his home in Pittsburg, ursday June 30, at the age of 78. Mr. Hawkins was born July 27, 1937 in Ft. Worth to Truman Ray Hawkins and Lucille Cra Hawkins. Phillip was a United States Army Veteran who served overseas as a psychiatric nurse and later served as the Red Cross representative for Camp County helping to connect service members with their families during times of need. He also aided in the recovery a er hurricane Camille. Phillip had degrees in Sociology and Psychology and worked as a social worker for the state and later as a social worker for the Pittsburg hospital and nursing homes. He taught school and drove a school bus for Pittsburg I.S.D. and later owned and operated and a convenience store and donut shop. Phillip served as Camp County Judge. He was also an administrator for Camp County’s adult day care. Phillip was a long time member of First Baptist Church Pittsburg, teaching Sunday School and serving as an usher. Phillip was a past president of e American Cancer Society of Camp County. He served the East Texas Rural Heritage Museum as a Docent and was on the Board of Directors. He coached little league baseball in Pittsburg for 14 years. He always enjoyed time with his family, especially with grand children and great grand children. Phillip is survived by his wife of over 54 years, Jackie Hawkins; three sons: Mitch Carter and wife Gerri, David Hawkins and wife Lisa, Paul Hawkins and wife Kassie; two daughters: Ruthanne ByrdWalker and husband Kerry; and Angie Avittan and husband Tali; along with 15 grandchildren and 9 great grand children. Phillip was preceded in death by his parents: Truman and Lucille Hawkins; and his sister Ann Ramsey.

Darwin Earl Baker, 76, died Sunday, July 3, 2016 at his home a er being ill for some time. He leaves his wife of 53 years, Carolyn (Elder) Baker, one son, Kyle Baker and his wife, Nancy, of Denton, Texas, and two grandchildren, Aubrey Baker and Cole Baker. He is survived by a brother, Charles Baker and sisterin-law, Beverly Baker, of Joplin, Missouri, a sister, Charolette Trease and brother-inlaw, Eddie Trease, of Cassville, Missouri, a mother-in-law, Nadine Elder, of Joplin, Missouri and one brother-in-law, Kenneth Elder, of Gladstone, Missouri. Darwin is preceded in death by his father and mother, Leslie Baker and Ophelia Soos, one brother, Alvin Baker, and one sister, Shirley Sewell. Darwin was born November 5, 1939, in Jasper, Missouri. He graduated from Jasper High School in 1957, and he served 6 years in the National Guard. He attended college in Joplin, Missouri, and Kansas City, and spent several years in banking. Darwin and Carolyn ran their own lawn and garden equipment business, Blue Valley Tractor, in Stilwell, Kansas, from 1979-1999. A er retirement, Darwin and Carolyn moved to Pittsburg, Texas in 2001. They are members of the Northridge Church of Christ in Mount Pleasant, Texas. Darwin loved to fish, garden, cook and help other people. He will be missed by his family and many dear friends. A memorial service is scheduled for 2:00PM,Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Northridge Church of Christ. Inurnment will be at the Blodgett Cemetery in the Blodgett Community. The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home.

She was born March 19, 1945 in Prosser, Wash. and died at her home in Colorado June 30. She married John D. Giblaint on Dec. 18, 1966 in Durrant, Okla. and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She is survived by three sons, Bobby L. Giblaint, Wayne Cannon and Darryl Giblaint; eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one sister, Beverly Wilson Tillman. She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years John Giblaint; parents, Viola and Arvin Wilson; three sisters, Betty Wilson Cannon, Linda Wilson Lilton, Lillian Wilson Beck, and one brother Robert L. Services for Ron Kuykendall, 49, was held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 9 at Erman Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Perry Shirley officiating. Interment was in Leesburg Cemetery. He was born July 31, 1966 in Pittsburg. He died Wednesday, July 5 at his home in Beckville. He served in the U.S. Army during the First Persian Gulf War and Operation Desert Storm. He was an avid fisherman and motorcycle enthusiast. He is survived by his mother, Deloris Kuykendall; one son, Jeffery Glenn Kuykendall; one daughter, Brenda Lee Kuykendall; two sisters, Teresa Huggins and husband John and Debbie Wallis and husband Tommy; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, James Travis Kuykendall and a brother James Glenn Kuykendall. She was born Aug. 27, 1942 in Pittsburg, and she died Monday, July 4 at her home. She was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church and worked for (the late) Dr. James W. Coldsnow for many years. Survivors include her husband: Weldon Haywood of Pittsburg; two daughters, Debbie Smith and her husband Stan of Henderson, Carla and Eric Hopper of Pittsburg; grandchildren, Miranda Smith, Shea Dorman and husband Chet, Matthew Haywood, Brody Hopper, and Erica Hopper; great-grandchildren, Makayla Oliver and Jayda and Jalynn Brown; one brother, Steve McNutt and his wife Connie of Pittsburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lloyd and Elsie Helen White McNutt, a brother and sisterin-law Ronnie and Wanda McNutt. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016 at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home with John Wisener, Tim Hullett, and L.C. Terry o ciating. Interment will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be ursday, July 14 from 6 p.m.- 8 p.m. at Curry-Welborn Funeral Home. Stephen was born on Dec. 12, 1970 in Mount Pleasant to David and Glenda McNeil and married his wife April LeAnn Bass on June 9, 1995. Stephen was a truck driver at Cal-Maine and a member of Spring Hill Missionary Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife April LeAnn McNeil, two daughters Whitney and Shelby McNeil, his parents David R. and Glenda McNeil, one brother Keith McNeil and his wife Carrie, one grandchild on the way James Levi Wittebort, and nieces and nephews David Keith McNeil, Cody ompson, Braidon ompson, Montana McNeil, Trevor McNeil, and Shonda McNeil. He was preceded in death by his brother Craig McNeil, and grandparents Rayford and Lois McNeil, Lou and O.V. Bynum, Cathy Young, and Carl Foster.

Rex Herbert Duncan, age 91, passed away peacefully ursday morning, July 14 in Pittsburg. Rex was born July 28, 1924 in Brumley, Texas to Oliver Houston Duncan and Ester Light Duncan. He graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1942. On February 15, 1943 Rex was inducted into the US Army Air Force. Corporal Duncan would serve throughout the European campaigns in Normandy, Northern France, the Ardennes, the Rhineland, and Central Europe before his demobilization in October of 1945. Following his military service he married the love of his life, Mary Elizabeth Vaughn. A er a lengthy career with Diamond Shamrock Rex enjoyed his retirement in Pittsburg. He was an avid golfer, sherman and hunter. Rex and family were long time members of the First United Methodist Church. Rex is survived by his son: James Duncan, of Pittsburg; numerous nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Oliver and Ester Duncan; his beloved wife Mary Duncan; and 3 brothers. Visitation will be held from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, July 16 at the funeral home. Mrs. Shelton was born Dec. 25, 1933 in Dallas and she died Sunday, July 31 in Tyler at East Texas Medical Center. She worked as an accountant and owned Shelton Gunite Inc. with her husband. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church and enjoyed caring for a menagerie of cats and dogs through the years. Survivors include three daughters, Joanna Lynn Woods and husbandDan of Leesburg; Jeri Lynell Gar eld of Pittsburg; Lari Robin Shelton Hall and husband Terry of Little Elm; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren; one sister Brenda Vannatta and husband Chris of Princeton. She was preceded in death by her parents Claude H. Stewart and Trubye Lee Wood Stewart and her spouse, Donald Frank Shelton. Pallbearers were Daniel Moses, Otis Rish, Christian Rish, Evan Moses, Bobby Gar eld and Wade Davis. Honorary pallbearer was Terry Hall.

She was a member of the Tennison Memorial United Methodist Church and participated in the United Methodist Women, Janet Martin Sunday School Class and ursday Morning Circle and Eastern Star. Cobb and wife Joy of Midland; one step-daughter, Jane Dollins and husband Arthur of Paris; one brother-in-law, Bobby Barrett. Mr. Kenneth Moad, age 89, was lead by Jesus on Wednesday, Aug. 3 to his permanent home, peacefully he went with Him that morning. He was born on Aug. 8, 1926 in Lubbock, one of 10 children to the late J.W. Moad and Beulah Marton Moad. He was retired from the pharmacy industry and was preceded in death by parents. A er working many years in Fort Worth as a buyer for Skillern Drugs, he decided to make a move to ‘God’s Country’. He resided for 34 years here where he enjoyed gardening and farming. Spending most of his life caring for others including serving our country during WWII, made him the special man that he was. All that knew him loved and appreciated him for who he was. He is survived by devoted wife, Gerry AllenMoad of Gilmer; sons, Dennis Moad of Fort Worth, Danny Moad and wife Devonna of Fort Worth, Michael Petterson of Irving, James Patterson and wife Melinda of Mt. Vernon and Jerry Sinkey of Mount Pleasant; daughters, Denise Warren of Fort Worth and Charlotte Smith and husband Buddie of Grand Prairie; brothers, Davy Lee Moad and Johnny Don Moad; sisters, Mollie Ballengee and Doris Dworkin; brother-in-law, Ray Allen and sister-in-law, Jean Moad; 10 grandchildren and four great grandchildren; all who he loved dearly along with countless other family members, neighbors, and friends. Jeanette Landers Bishop of Pittsburg, Texas, whom some only knew as Granny, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2016 in Longview, Texas a er 95 years of loving others generously through her gi s of gardening, sewing, cooking, and spending quality time with others. She joins her inseparable companion and husband of 68 years, LJ Bishop, to enjoy God’s presence and love. Jeanette was born in February 1921 inCampCounty, Texas to Noah Hicks Landers and Cora Bell Milligan Landers where she grew up with siblings Floy, Roberta, Horace, and Marie, along with fostered brother Allen Duke. She graduated from Pittsburg High School in 1939 and several years later on November 1, 1942 married LJ Bishop. While raising their daughters, Charlotte and Yvonne, Jeanette was a homemaker and sewed beautifully intricate formal and pageant dresses for Mike Benet Formals for 20 years. A er retiring, she enjoyed gardening over two acres of vegetables, keeping half of Camp County stocked with multiple varieties of peas. e daughters, whom she instilled hard work, charity, and grace, continue to celebrate her memories with their respective families. Charlotte and husband Lloyd Jackson enjoy traveling to exotic locals from their home in Longview, TX. Her daughter Yvonne and husband Rex continue her legacy of gardening and canning in Gilmer, TX. e grandchildren that loved her cobblers, pound cakes, and dressing include Carmen Youngblood, Kevin and Nicole Youngblood, and Brian and Sarah Youngblood. Her great-grandchildren she never failed to tell they were loved include Colson, Ellie, and Wilder Youngblood. Her sister Marie Landers Santora continues to cherish the memories of spending summers with Jeanette in Texas and their cross country train trips fromher home in Long Beach, California. Her sister-in-law Patsy Bishop, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins also cerebrate a life well lived.Jeanette joins in rest her husband, parents, and siblings Floy Landers, Roberta Landers Bynum, Horace Landers, and Allen Duke. Earl Julian, of Pittsburg, passed away Saturday, Aug. 20 at the age of 91. Mr. Julian was born Aug. 3, 1925 in Leesburg to Henry Louie Julian and Annie Cleo Scarborough Julian. Durign World War II he joined the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served until he was honorably discharged in 1945. While stationed in California he met and later married Mary Katheryn Pilgrim. After his military service Earl attended Tyler Commerical College, and graduated with an accounting diploma in 1946. He was a past Camp County Judge, and also Camp County Auditor. Mr. Julian also enjoyed careers with both Lone Star Steel and Camp County Building Supply. He was also long time rancher. Mr. Julian was a member of First Baptist Church in Pittsburg, and had been a prior member of Pine Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Earl is survived by his two daughters: Jennifer Scudder and husband Phil of Mount Pleasant; and Jo Lange and husband Randy of Pittsburg; 5 grandchildren: Lara Rowe and husband Brad of Mount Pleasant; Robin Downing and husband Scott of Happy, Texas; Julian Chet Lange of Buda, Texas; Julie Gilbert; and Curt Rolston; as well as six great-grandchildren: Mary Katheryn Rowe, Madelyn Rowe, Benjamin Rowe, Emma Rowe, Brooke Downing, and Mitchell Downing; along with a host of nieces and nephews and many friends, especially a very dear friend and care giver, Mrs. Inese Palmer. He was preceded in death by his parents: Henry and Annie Julian; his first wife: Mary Katheryn Julian (Pilgrim); his second wife: Dorris Faye Julian (Carpenter); and two sisters: Ora Lee Parker and Earnestine Bullard. Funeral services were held 11 a.m. Monday, August 22 at the funeral home with burial to follow at Willow Oak Cemetery in Upshur County. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m. preceeding the funeral service. A graveside service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 29, at Masonic Cemetery in Mount Pleasant under the direction of Erman Smith Funeral Home for Dortha Gene Hosford Jones, 87, of Newsome who died Aug. 17 at her home. Born in Earlsboro, Okla., she was a longtime member of the First Assembly of God Church in Pittsburg. Survivors include: five children, Margaret Morris of Cookville, Sherman Jones, Karen (Duane) Walker, Tommy (Sandra) Jones all of Leesburg, Paula Travis of Evergreen, Colo.; two sisters, Joyce Laney of San Antonio and Jeanette Sanders of Mount Pleasant; eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her husband L. J. of 60 years; two daughters; parents Raymond and Marie Hosford, a brother, daughter-in-law, son-in-law and three granddaughters.
